Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I setup an appointment?
A: I’d prefer to speak with you on the phone, but you are more than welcomed to call or email. All communication I have with you is confidential, regardless if you become a client or not. I can be reached at (615) 656-4430.
Q: What should I expect at my first appointment?
A: Come 5-10 minutes early to ensure that you have time to fill out and read over any necessary paperwork. At the beginning of our session, I’ll ask why it is that you’re seeking help and we can explore together what some goals might be for you. We’ll discuss the nature of how our time together will be organized for future appointments, go over any questions you have, and talk about the duration of your time here.
Q: How long will therapy last?
A: The best way I can answer this is that you and I will decide this together.
Q: Why should I come see you, or any therapist?
A: In short, because life isn’t working for you. It might be a relationship gone bad, a job change, or something else that has caused you to question life. Or you might want to see a therapist because you are experiencing grief, anxiety, or depression. Therapy is a gateway to engaging your story and heart, and through therapy you and I can explore a renewed understanding of how and why you are the way you are.
Q: I’ve been in therapy/counseling before, and it didn’t work? What’s different about you?
A: My clients repeatedly tell me that they are very comfortable and challenged during our sessions together. I think you will find my approach to therapy comfortable yet challenging in hopes of moving towards change in your life.
Q: What do you charge?
A: Sessions are 50-55 minutes in length, and are $105 per hour.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do not, but I can give you a dated receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Sometimes insurance companies will ask for diagnostic codes to process your reimbursement. I do not provide this information for you or your insurance.
Q: How do I pay?
A: You are expected pay at the time of your appointment in cash, check or credit/debit card, or you can pay in advance by credit/debit card by clicking here.
